You have questions. We're here to help.
Learning about ABA therapy and finding the right support can feel overwhelming. Explore answers to common questions about therapy, getting started, and what families can expect from Beaming Path.
Understanding ABA
ABA is an evidence-based approach that helps children build meaningful skills, such as communication, social connection, and daily routines, while gently reducing behaviors that get in the way of learning. It relies on encouragement, repetition, and positive reinforcement rather than pressure. Every plan is built around what a specific child needs to thrive, not a one-size-fits-all script.
ABA can support growth across many areas: communicating wants and needs, playing and connecting with others, following routines, managing emotions, and building independence with everyday tasks like dressing or mealtime. Which skills come first depends entirely on your child — a good program starts with what matters most for your family right now.
Yes. ABA is never a fixed curriculum. It starts with getting to know your child — their strengths, interests, and the specific challenges your family is facing — and builds a plan around that. Goals, pacing, and teaching methods are adjusted continuously as your child grows, so the plan keeps making sense over time.
Getting Started With Beaming Path
You do not need to have every document ready before contacting us or scheduling an initial consultation. However, many insurance plans require a formal autism diagnosis—and sometimes a referral or prior authorization—before they will cover ABA therapy. Requirements vary by plan. Our team can review what you already have and explain what may still be needed.
Beaming Path provides ABA therapy for children and adolescents ages 2 through 18. Because every child’s situation is different, we encourage families to contact us so we can confirm whether our ABA services are the right fit for your child’s needs.
A good place to begin is with your child’s pediatrician, who can discuss your concerns and refer you to a qualified diagnostic provider when needed. Referral and documentation requirements vary by insurance plan. If you are unsure where to start, contact our team and we will help you understand the next step.
Start by requesting a free consultation through our Contact page or by calling us at (305) 209-4547. We will learn about your child’s needs, review any diagnosis, referral, or insurance requirements that may apply, and explain the next steps. If Beaming Path is the right fit, we will guide you through assessment, treatment planning, and scheduling.
The initial consultation is a brief, no-pressure conversation with a parent or caregiver. We will learn about your concerns, your child’s strengths, the support your family is seeking, and any previous services or diagnoses. We will also explain our ABA services, availability, and any documents or insurance steps that may be needed. It is a conversation—not an assessment or a commitment to begin ABA services.
An assessment is a warm, structured conversation and observation period where a clinician gets to know your child. It typically includes talking with parents, observing your child in familiar settings, and identifying strengths and areas for growth. The result is a personalized plan with clear, meaningful goals — not a test your child can "fail."
The timeline varies depending on completed paperwork, clinical availability, and any insurance authorization requirements. After learning more about your child’s situation, our team can provide a clearer estimate and keep you informed throughout the process. Returning requested documents promptly can help prevent unnecessary delays.
Therapy at Beaming Path
ABA services may be provided in your home, at our Miami office, or through school-based support and collaboration when appropriate. We serve families in Miami and surrounding areas. The best setting depends on your child’s needs, family circumstances, scheduling, and any applicable school or insurance requirements.
There is no fixed number of hours for every child. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst will make an individualized recommendation based on your child’s assessment, goals, age, learning needs, and family schedule. Insurance authorization may also affect the approved number of hours. The recommendation will be reviewed with your family before ABA therapy begins.
Progress in ABA is tracked through ongoing, structured data collection, not guesswork. Clinicians regularly review how a child is doing on specific goals and adjust the plan based on what the data shows. Families are typically kept in the loop with regular updates, so you can see, in plain language, how your child is growing over time.
Families are treated as partners, not bystanders. That usually means regular conversations with the clinical team, opportunities to practice strategies at home, and a say in what goals matter most for your family. ABA tends to work best when what happens in a session and what happens at home reinforce each other.
Insurance and Costs
Many insurance plans cover ABA therapy when their eligibility and medical-necessity requirements are met. Coverage varies and may depend on factors such as diagnosis, referral, prior authorization, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. Contact our team with your insurance information and we will help you understand the next steps.
Insurance participation can change, so please contact our team with the name of your plan and we will confirm our current participation and discuss any available private-pay options. Please do not submit insurance cards, medical records, or other sensitive information through the website form. Our team will provide a secure way to share any documents we need.
Yes. Our team will explain the authorization process, identify the documents that may be required, and help coordinate the steps within our role. Some items—such as a diagnosis, referral, or forms from another provider—may need to come from your family or your child’s healthcare provider. We will keep you informed so you understand what is needed and what happens next.
Your out-of-pocket responsibility depends on your individual insurance benefits and may include a deductible, copayment, coinsurance, or ABA services that are not covered by your plan. Private-pay options may also be available. Before ABA services begin, our team will review the information available and help you understand potential costs, although final coverage decisions are made by your insurer.
Family Support
Yes — caregiver participation is considered a core part of effective ABA, not an optional add-on. Being involved helps the skills your child is building carry over into everyday life, where they matter most: at home, at mealtimes, during routines. What participation looks like varies by family; some caregivers sit in on sessions, others focus on practicing specific strategies day to day.
Caregiver training is dedicated time with the clinical team focused on you, not just your child. It typically covers the strategies being used in ABA therapy and how to apply them confidently at home — things like encouraging communication, managing challenging moments, or supporting new routines. The goal is for you to feel equipped, not just informed.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please contact our team as soon as possible at (305) 209-4547. Advance notice helps us coordinate our clinical staff and maintain consistent ABA therapy schedules. Families will receive Beaming Path’s complete cancellation policy during intake, including any applicable notice requirements.
